U.S News Best Nursing Homes

U.S. News has refined its evaluation methodology to ensure that the “Best Nursing Home” designation is awarded only to facilities that demonstrate appropriate use of key services and consistent excellence in quality measures. To qualify, nursing homes must maintain an average rating of 4.5 out of 5 over 10 months of federal reports and consistently meet U.S. News performance standards, including a minimum CMS overall rating of 4 for the entire period.

The American Health Care Association (AHCA) and National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) are the leading organizations representing long-term and post-acute care providers across the nation. Each year, they present the National Quality Award, recognizing skilled nursing and assisted living communities that demonstrate a commitment to quality improvement, performance excellence, and superior care. This prestigious honor highlights dedication to enhancing the lives of residents through continuous innovation and best practices in senior care.

Silver National Quality Award

The National Quality Awards are presented annually by the American Health Care Association (AHCA) and National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) to recognize long-term care providers that demonstrate excellence in performance. The SILVER AWARD recognizes a significant achievement in the journey towards performance and resident focused excellence.

Bronze National Quality Award

The National Quality Awards are presented annually by the American Health Care Association (AHCA) and National Center for Assisted Living (NCAL) to recognize long-term care providers that demonstrate excellence in performance. Recipients of the BRONZE AWARD demonstrate their commitment to improving care and services to meet the highest expectations and standards.

Quality Initiative Recognition

The Quality Initiative Recognition Program is designed to recognize AHCA nursing center members that demonstrate the attainment of four or more of the AHCA Quality Initiative goals related to decreasing turnover, customer satisfaction, improving discharge back into the community, decreasing hospital readmissions, increasing functional outcomes, and more.

CMS Star Quality Ratings

Every month, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) uses a Five-Star Quality Rating System to rank skilled nursing facilities—with one star being the lowest possible score and five being the highest—based on information from Health Care Inspections, Nurse and RN Staffing, and Quality Measures. Evergreen Healthcare Group strives to achieve a 4-star or 5-star rating.

Activated Insights Customer Experience Award

Activated Insights conducts thousands of monthly surveys in order to establish a comprehensive review of skilled nursing facilities that will determine the quality of their products and services. In order to qualify for this prestigious awards, clients must achieve a cumulative Best in Class customer satisfaction rating across a calendar year.

The 800 Award by Reputation

The Reputation 800 Award recognizes location-level businesses that excel in customer satisfaction by achieving a Reputation Score of 800 or higher. This distinction highlights organizations that actively listen to and act on customer feedback, demonstrating a strong commitment to service excellence. The Reputation Score reflects key factors such as patient reviews, responsiveness, and overall experience, reinforcing a business’s dedication to continuous improvement and delivering on its brand promise.

McKnight Tech Awards—Building Bridges Winner

In the division’s Building Bridges category, Evergreen Healthcare Group (formerly EmpRes Operated by Evergreen) of Vancouver, WA, achieved Gold for its use of Accushield technology. The technology helps alleviate the need to staff employees at facility entrances.

The kiosk and mobile app enabled self-screening and the capture of valuable data used for other processes. Evergreen Healthcare Group estimates a savings of more than 45,000 labor hours and just over $135,000 in labor dollars through its use of Accushield.  (McKnights, 2022)

Advancing Excellence Campaign

The National Nursing Home Quality Improvement (NNHQI) Campaign exists to provide long term care providers, consumers and their advocates, and quality improvement professionals with free, easy access to evidence-based and model-practice resources to support continuous quality improvement. The Campaign promotes focus on individuals’ preferences, staff empowerment, and involving all staff, consumers, and leadership in creating a culture of continuous quality improvement.
